The Uttarakhand Tragedy

From past over a week, the natural disaster happened in Himalayas has occupied everyone’s mind space. But was this disaster really natural?

Large scale devastation happened in Uttrakhand due to heavy rains.. But this tragedy partly can be attributed to as natural and partly manmade... large number of houses and hotels were made on the banks of river which interfered in the flow of river.. Large scale commercial activity made eco sensitive area prone to disaster like this. Entire Mountain behind kedar nath temple toppled on the valley below thus covering entire kedar ghati with up to 2 mtrs. of rubble.

However, thousands of people died in the tragedy. Once again our army did wonderful job and saved over more than one lakh people.

There was one thing that was even more disappointing than shity politics happened over the incidence. On an eminent news channel, I saw following news piece.

The exact words were:
महादेव की महिमा अपरंपार है. केदारनाथ में सिर्फ 'नाथ' का बचना इसी शिवलीला का हिस्सा है. तबाही ने भले ही केदारनाथ में तांडव मचाया हो, लेकिन प्रलय भी मंदिर का कुछ भी नहीं बिगाड़ सका.

Really? Even on such a sad incidence, all they care about some bloody TRP’s? As per the question of temple standing, the walls are about one meter thick, while other houses and hotels had walls at most 9 to 10 inches thick. So it was not a miracle. But once again Indian media has proved its lack of immaturity and greed even in such a tough times for the whole country.
