Porsche has introduced the new lower and longer, lighter and faster, more powerful and efficient Cayman S in India at Rs 92,27,905 (ex-showroom Maharashtra) and Rs 93,99,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Based on Porsche’s mixed aluminium-steel construction and lightweight design the new Cayman S has a longer wheelbase, a wider track and larger wheelbase all designed to enhance the drive dynamics of the rear-wheel drive sports car.

Powered by a 3.4-litre flat six engine that develops 329PS of power and 370Nm of torque, the new Porsche Cayman S can go from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with the optional seven-speed double clutch PDK gearbox. This being a Porsche sports car, there of course is an optional Sport Chrono package that gives the Cayman S launch control and faster, more optimum shift times, allowing the sports car to go from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 281 km/h.

The new Porsche Cayman S also comes with a sports mode as standard that allows the driver to choose between a comfortable ride setting with better fuel efficiency and a stiffer, sporty setup that also improves the responsiveness of the engine.

The basic silhouette of the new Cayman S remains the same as its predecessor while the front cooling inlets in the bumper have become larger and the fog lamps have shifted to the corners, the headlights get daytime running LEDs and the car has shorter overhangs for better handling. At the back, the car retains its twin exhausts, sleek rear spoiler and gets new tail light.

The interiors of the Porsche Cayman come with a host of new options that owners can spec their car with including dual tone leather packages and for the first time, a high-end Burmester sound system can also be specified.

Commenting on the new Cayman S model in India, Anil Reddi, Director of Porsche India, said: "Ever since its international debut, the Cayman has been applauded for its excellent handling and performance. In fact, along with the Boxster, the model won the coveted 2013 World Performance Car award this March. It is built for driving through bends like few other sports cars and offers an outstanding sports car experience combined with the practicality of everyday driving.”
